When Boutique Ice Cream Meets Boutique Style, The Results are Delectable!

If you’re an ice cream lover who’s never been to Salt & Straw, then have you ever really lived? This “keep Portland weird” ice cream chain believes in flavor—the bigger and bolder the better. And their iconic combinations like Salted, Malted, Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough and Birthday Cake and Blackberries have taken their cult following nationwide.

Salt & Straw has collaborated with every company under the sun—yet somehow without melting. From their yearly holiday partnership with The Rock to their Whiff of Waffle Cone perfume created in conjunction with Imaginary Authors, Salt & Straw is no stranger to pop culture. And we’re no stranger to them…or their unlimited free samples.

As lovers of both boutique ice cream and fashion, we decided to create the perfect duo—curated designer outfits inspired by ice cream that goes above and beyond. Whether or not you’re interested in trying blue cheese ice cream, we can confirm: you’ve never worn outfits like these to the ice cream parlor!

Strawberry Honey Balsamic With Black Pepper

Love strawberry ice cream? You’ve never experienced it quite like this—swirled with jammy balsamic and sprinkled with black pepper it’s at once sweet and sassy…just like this outfit! It’s a trendy take on a classic scoop, so we had to curate an outfit that was just as cutting-edge. So cutting edge, in fact, that this confection of a mini dress from Nue Studio sold out minutes after we pegged it for this edit. If you luck out and snag one for yourself, would you be interested in sharing…?

Thankfully, you can always get a scoop of strawberry ice cream—or a tube of this bright, berry-colored lip gloss from our friends at Hope Beauty. If that isn’t enough shimmer for you, then don’t miss the Ariella comb from New York-based designer Ellen Hunter. For a final sprinkle of sparkle, we’ve added a vintage watch from our favorite purveyor of heritage timepieces, Louis Martin Jewelers. To keep this ice cream-inspired outfit silky smooth, we’ve included a pair of satin stilettos from Aquazzura and a classic Chanel flap bag in a stunning shade of strawberry. It’s frothy like a milkshake, feminine, and absolutely fabulous—the perfect summertime confection!

Arbequina Olive Oil

You may have tried drizzling olive oil over your vanilla ice cream (we’re personally big fans) but have you ever tried olive oil ice cream? If you haven’t, then make your way to a Salt & Straw shop, stat. Their Arbequina Olive Oil blend is light and bright and impossibly creamy—just like this outfit. Luxuriously draped with yards and yards of extra fabric, this ruffled halter from Le Thanh Hoa is a treat all on its own.

But, paired with a creamy Dior purse with a sprinkle of gold hardware, ruffled Bella Belle heels, and another shade of Hope Beauty’s creamy lip gloss, it’s even better. A stunning Gabriella flowered comb from Ellen Hunter NYC rounds out the ivory ensemble, while a vintage Bulova cocktail watch from Louis Martin is the figurative cherry on top.

Honey Lavender

Fragrant and floral, Honey Lavender is one of Salt & Straw’s enduring flavors. Sweet but not soapy, the flavor calls to mind a stroll through French Provence or a London Fog latte with just the right amount of honey. For a flavor so enchanting, it was only fair for us to create an equally ethereal outfit in that perfect shade of purple. You’ll be eating your scoop too fast for any drips to run down your cone, but this floral-inspired lavender mini dress features a delightfully dribbling train of fine fabric to add a bit of whimsy. Shoes from Jimmy Choo sparkle with rhinestone straps reminiscent of crystallized honey, and we add even more sparkle with the bee’s knees of all watches—a vintage gold-and-diamond Rolex, circa 1930.

Reflecting the Rolex’s almost-honeycomb shape, the Pippa Comb from Ellen Hunter NYC offers a perfect crown for all queen bees. And this Celine wallet is such a perfect match for the beautiful floral hues of the rest of the ensemble that we’re convinced—it’s a match made in heaven. Add in a clear gloss from Hope Beauty, and you have an ensemble that can take you from the flower fields of France to the buzzing honey farms of Portland, Oregon.

Pear & Blue Cheese

Yes, really. Whether or not you’re a fan of blue cheese on your charcuterie board, you’ve probably never thought about consuming it in ice cream form! And, while our own personal jury is still out on whether this particular scoop is a stroke of culinary genius or the cheesiest idea ever, we can’t deny that they use the best blue cheese in the world (literally) in every batch. So, then, we decided to feature the best of the best in designer fashion with a dress from Oscar de la Renta that could be a swirled scoop of the notorious flavor itself.

And, while these Louboutins were probably created with a bride’s “something blue” in mind, we don’t care—we’re obsessed! The playful pop of color against the ivory straps is magnificent, and it keeps the offending blue of that cheese out of sight…and hopefully out of mind. However, blue or not, this stunning Monica comb from Ellen Hunter deserves to be seen…as does the vintage Hamilton from Louis Martin! Some might consider mixing blue cheese with ice cream to be casting pearls before swine (or would it be the other way around?) but we’re convinced that there’s something genius about the combination—even if we’re not smart enough to understand it. Either way, it’s worth featuring this glamorous pearl purse from Simone Rocha…oh, la, la!

Final Thoughts

Whether your favorite flavor is strawberry or…blue cheese (??) we all can agree—there’s nothing more scrumptious than ice cream on a hot summer day. Nothing, that is, but these four fabulous frocks! You might be overdressed for your next ice cream date, but you’ll understand when you taste your first scoop of Salt & Straw—these flavors are worth rolling out the red carpet!

Which outfit was your favorite—and would YOU eat blue cheese ice cream?
